Meet Kyle Drinkwine. The Wisconsin man, 24, allegedly became so incensed by a lackluster karaoke performance of a heavy metal song that he assaulted the singer and a second man, police charge. According to a River Falls Police Department report, Drinkwine throttled singer James Mischler, 28, and his friend Cyrus Kozub, 29, "over one's ability to sing karaoke." Though cops did not specify which song set Drinkwine off last week, Kozub told TSG that Mischler was performing "Holy Diver," the title cut on Dio's 1983 debut album.

99 Bricks is a game that plays to my strengths -- namely, stacking a really tall tower of the familiar four-block shapes.
As the title suggests, you'll be armed with 99 of the things, and tasked with stacking them as high as you can. But there's a catch -- the bricks obey the laws of physics, so stack them at the wrong angle and they'll tumble and fall, often taking a few more with them.
They also don't stick to one another like Tetris blocks, resulting in a satisfying wobble every time you drop a brick onto the pile. There's also a discard option, so you can simply throw away a brick you don't particularly like, but you're still limited to 99.
The physics take a little getting used to, but once you've figured out how the blocks operate it's actually quite a bit of fun.

Mayors for Peace works to build solidarity and to facilitate coordination among cities that support the Program to Promote the Solidarity of Cities toward the Total Abolition of Nuclear Weapons. Its primary goal is to work internationally to raise awareness of the need for the abolition of nuclear weapons. Mayors for Peace is also formally committed to pursuing lasting world peace by working to address the issues of starvation, poverty, refugee welfare, human rights abuses, environmental destruction and other problems that threaten peaceful coexistence today.
In August 1945, atomic bombs instantaneously reduced the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki to rubble, taking hundreds of thousands of precious lives. Today, more than fifty years after the war, thousands of citizens still suffer from radiation's devastating after-effects and unfathomable emotional pain. To prevent a repetition of the A-bomb tragedy, the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki have continually sought to inform the world of the inhumanity and cruelty of nuclear weapons and have consistently demanded their total abolition.

Canadian Love Affair With Obama May Be Short Lived

During the presidential primaries Barack Obama announced that he would renegotiate NAFTA to ensure that employment and environmental laws and policies in Mexico and Canada are equalized with those of the United States. The conventional wisdom at the time was that Obama’s comments were simply political rhetoric and the renegotiation was not something that would be implemented. But, as the US media now keeps telling us, Obama is pretty well an unknown quantity and even if he were just to float the idea of renegotiating NAFTA it would have the effect of further destabilizing the already shaky markets.
OK, this link seems to contradict my last link. Perhaps I should change my name to hammer of ambiguity.

During the campaign, Obama also signaled he would seek to renegotiate NAFTA to include more comprehensive labor and environmental protections. But if the trade deal were to be reexamined, it could lead to endless political bickering in Mexico, the US, and Canada, says Salvador Kalifa, an economic consultant based in Monterrey, Mexico.
"What we would be looking at is a standstill," says Mr. Kalifa. "If [Obama] really pushes for a renegotiation of NAFTA, it will be the worst for [Mexico]. For us, it will mean going backward. We can't afford to go backward anymore. For me he is a big question mark."
But Obama has since backtracked on the issue. In an interview with Fortune magazine in June, when pressed on his views on unilaterally reopening NAFTA, Obama chalked up his earlier statements on the issue to "overheated and amplified" campaign rhetoric.
Business leaders and the governments of the United States' most important trade partners in Latin America, including Mexico, Colombia, and Peru, are banking on that rhetoric giving way to pro-trade policies.

This 1-hour documentary details some of the lesser known aspects of the history of the U.S. space program and examines plans and potential ramifications of the militarization and privatization of space.
I don't recall ever hearing these specific issues brought up for discussion during our recent presidential election hoopla. It would seem relevant to the topic of taxation, to say the least, which was a topic that was beaten into the dirt, if only superficially. Watching it made me curious about Obama's official positions on all of these issues. This link starts the film automatically so you may not want to open at work, for that reason I'll stamp it NSFW.
Not safe for work.

Inspired by the idea that wisdom is the greatest gift one generation can give to another, award-winning photographer and filmmaker Andrew Zuckerman interviewed, photographed and filmed 50 of the world’s great writers, actors, artists, designers, politicians, musicians and religious and business leaders of our time. He posed seven questions to each of his subjects—all over 65 years of age—and their candid responses offer uniquely inspirational and often surprising insights.
Thoughts from Nelson Mandela, Frank Gehry, Judi Dench, The Dalai Lama, Desmond Tutu, Clint Eastwood, Ted Kennedy, Robert Redford, Vaclav Havel, Terence Conran, Buzz Aldrin, Lou Reed, Willie Nelson, Madeline Albright, Jane Goodall, Burt Bacharach, Andrew Wyeth, Vanessa Redgrave, Nadine Gordimer and many more reveal lifetimes of adversity and triumph, and present intimate insights into very public lives.
Amazing video preview to the book.

On the corner of 155th Street and Frederick Douglas Boulevard in Harlem, New York, lies Rucker Park. By appearances, the green concrete pavement, anchored on either end by its run down slab bleachers, is no different than any other basketball court in the city. But this is the place where nicknames are earned and basketball legends are made.
On September 1, 2006, the top 24 high school basketball players in the nation stepped out on this same court that once saw the likes of Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Dr. J, to compete in the first annual "Boost Mobile Elite 24 Hoops Classic." GUNNIN FOR THAT #1 SPOT documents these athletes' skills on the most legendary court in the world, showing never- before-seen footage of that "Elite 24" game.
Directed by Adam Yauch (founding member of the Hip Hop trio the Beastie Boys and director of "Awesome: I Shot That"), the film follows eight of the country's premiere high school basketball players on the fast track to the NBA, as they are adored by fans, wooed by colleges and sneaker companies, and groomed to be in the spotlight of the multi-million dollar game. Blending this next generation of b-ball players with a mix of raw hip-hop, jazz and break beats, and Yauchs unique kinetic filmmaking, GUNNIN is an explosively entertaining look at soon-to-be NBA All Stars.
*Since the Elite 24 game 18 months ago, five of these players have become national celebrities and university legends playing for top college basketball programs. The other three are still in high school.
